Obituary for Pearl E. Borger (Smith)

Pearl E. Borger, 85, of Lehighton and formerly of Kunkletown died Tuesday, April 8 in her home.

She was the wife of the late Clark D. Borger.

Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Schoenberger) Smith.

She had worked as a seamstress at Deville Blouse Factory in Kunkletown as well as other area garment mills for many years before retiring in 1994. She also worked at her mother, father and uncle's store - Schoenberger's General Store in Kunkletown.

She was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Kunkletown and the Laymens Fellowship at St. Matthews. She was also a member of the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. and the Eldred Township Historical Society.

She is survived by a son, Roy Borger and his wife Lynn of Lehighton; a daughter, Renee "Sus" Keiper and her husband Dickie of Saylorsburg; two grandchildren, Stacy Borger of Lehighton and Trevor Borger and his fiance' Jess Heffelfinger of Kunkletown; two nieces, Linda Miller and Joanne Quinn and four nephews, Skip, Neal, Todd and Don Nicholas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Nicholas.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 14 from St. Matthew's United Church of Christ with Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Interment will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery.
