Obituary for Barry D. Mackes

Barry D. Mackes, 67, of Saylorsburg, died Tuesday, April 8 in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Paul A. and Arlene E. (Gearhart) Mackes.

He had been a truck driver for Hanson Aggregates in Bossardsville for many years before retiring and previously he had worked at Dixie Cup in Easton.

Barry was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War and a member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert and the VFW Post 739 in Bangor.

He loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by two uncles, Ray Mackes of Saylorsburg and Lester Marsh of Snydersville; many cousins and his faithful dog Nellie.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 12 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Brett Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
