Condolence: Leighanne is one of my closest friends (like a sister). So her dad treated me as such. I have never saw him without a smile. He will be greatly missed. Gone too soon from us. But as I tell leighanne, we can take solace in knowing his is at peace with our father, God.
Lil'bit and mom- I love you guys and I'm always praying for you.

Condolence: Andy's passing was truly shocking and I am so sorry for your loss. Andy was one of those teachers that will always be remembered for his kindness and good humor. He always went the extra mile to help students who were challenged by the curriculum. Rest in peace Andy.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Andy's passing. I worked in his classroom at Long Valley Middle School some years ago. He was a wonderful teacher and the students like and respected him. I was a certified social studies teacher but continuing my education at college at the time pursuing a special education certificate. He always made me feel comfortable and shared his expertise with me in the field of social studies and use of technology. He will surely be missed.

Condolence: Mr. Damiter touch my life back in 1979 and 1980, as I'm sure he influenced the lives of numerous awkward teenagers at LVMS. He gave me the courage and inspiration to become Gloria Rasputin in "Bye Bye Birdie," much to my father's chagrin. I am sure that I am not the only student he made feel unique, special and talented. He was a light in my dim world as a young teenage girl, and for his faith in me, I will always be thankful. Rest in peace Mr. D. I'm sure you are entertaining them on the grandest of pianos in the great beyond.

Condolence: Mr. Damiter was my teacher 32 years ago....Back then, before he was married, he and Mr. Carney were the couple of riots at LVMS. He directed us in "Some Like it Hot" and it felt like the grandest performance of my life. He made each of us feel like his family, and this bonded the troupe together like nothing else. I'll never forget his amazing piano playing....he said it was because of his crooked pinkies which gave him more range. What's even more amazing is that, 25 years after Mr. Damiter taught me, he taught my niece, and REMEMBERED ME! He gave me nickname, which only he used: "Toots'. Maybe he called all the girls that, but it made me feel singularly special. The loss of such a wonderful person is great....may God bless his family.

Condolence: I had Mr. Damiter as both my homeroom and Social Studies teacher two years ago for eighth grade and being a part of his class was an absolute joy. He never failed to brighten up my day with his incredible sense of humor. My friend and I sat right in the front during Social Studies class and we were often the subject of many a light-hearted joke, which no doubt made our time there special and memorable. We still fondly recall some of the funny moments we had in Social Studies, and I'm sure we'll remember them for a long time. If he saw that I was frustrated or confused with school or life in general he was right there with either some good advice or just the right anecdote to pull me through whatever I was struggling with. He loved his job a lot and that was plain to see. He loved teaching, he loved talking with us and getting to know us, he loved making us laugh...I am so glad to have been one of his students. He will be sorely missed and his family has my deepest sympathies.

Condolence: I was lucky enough to have Mr. Damiter as a Language Arts teacher in 7th grade. Besides being a very humorous and interesting person, he taught me a little trick I still use to this day. When writing a story or something of the like he suggested to always keep your pencil moving in your hand even if you weren't writing anything because it always keeps your thoughts flowing. Whenever I do it I always think of him! I know he left my classmates and me very fond memories of middle school and I am deeply saddened to here of his passing. My condolences go out to his family and I am very sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I was shocked to have heard of Andy's passing. I just recently heard that he decided to retire - a decision I know was difficult for him to make. I was thrilled that he would have this time in life to sit back and enjoy a little bit...Andy was always one that would tell it like it is...sometimes making the moment difficult, but in moments that followed you would always have a chuckle! He had so many lessons for his students - much more than just social studies...but about being a good person and doing your best. Students always came back and said nice things about Andy. What I will remember most is that he was a "Gentle"man. Always kind, giving, and sincere...I am sure that Heaven is brighter because he is there. My sincere condolences to his family at this difficult time. Please know Andy will always be with you - his large spirit will never leave your sides!

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Damiter's passing. He was a great teacher.
My son Joe had him in middle school and I remember him telling me story about having a fire drill. Evidently Mr. Damiter's way of keeping track of pencils, when a student borrowed them, was by having them leave their shoe on his desk. When the student returned the pencil, they got their shoe back. Needless to say, there was a fire drill, the ground was wet from a previous rain, and someone had gone outside without their shoe, due to borrowing a pencil. I thought it was a great idea, and thought that he had a great sense of humor. Of course I hoped the parent of the student had a great sense of humor about the situation too.

I know you will read all of these messages, and they will help to comfort you at this very very sad time. Our deepest sympathy to all of you, Mr. Damiter was a great man. The Harrington Family
