Obituary for Martin P. Beers Jr.

Martin P. Beers Jr., 86, of Pen Argyl, died Tuesday, October 14 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.

He was the husband of Annabel (Borger) Beers.

Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Martin Beers Sr. and the late Myrtle (Libengood) Beers.

He had worked as a coach cleaner for the Reading Railroad in Bethlehem PA.

Martin served seven years in the US Army (Military Police and Intelligence and Reconnaissance. He was a member of the American Legion Post 724 in Wind Gap.

He was a great sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing and dogs.

Martin was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David; a daughter, Donna and a granddaughter, Shayla.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 17 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown. There wil be a visitation on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
