Gertrude A. Hennion, 79, of Saylorsburg, died on Saturday, February 7, 2015.

She was the wife of Dayton Hennion. They had observed their 60th wedding anniversary in October.

Born in Cherry Valley, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Christina (Beck) Buskirk.

A graduate of Chestnuthill High School, she had worked as a cashier at Laneco in Wind Gap for twenty years, retiring in 1997. Prior to that, she had worked at various blouse mills in the Slate Belt area for fifteen years. Upon her retirement from Laneco, Gertrude got her real estate license.

Gertrude and her husband Dayton loved snowmobiling and were members of the Blue Ridge Snow-Riders of Hamilton Square. She enjoyed square dancing and camping, especially at Knoebels Grove and Lake George, and trips to the New Jersey beaches with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Brenda Bush of Brodheadsville, Trudy Terplan of Bangor, Tracy Serfass of Kunkletown and Jodi Cogan of Effort; two sisters, Frances Hill of Wind Gap and Barbara Zegalia of Hamilton Square; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jolyne Nicole Serfass and Courtney Lynne Serfass and by a sister, Debbie Siegfried.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11 at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville with Alan Terplan officiating. Cremation will follow in the H. G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
