Obituary for Jay Robert Broderick

Jay Robert Broderick
Jay Robert Broderick, 47, of Kunkletown, is no more, he is bereft of life, he has deceased, he has wrung down the curtain and gone to join the choir invisible, he has expired and has gone to meet his maker, and has done so most likely in a pair of running shoes with a huge smile upon his bearded face.

The son of Sheila Broderick and the late Richard Broderick, he was born in Abington, PA, but grew up in Kunkletown. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1985 and served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed in the construction industry in various capacities. For the past nineteen years, he has been a proud member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, Local #5, most recently employed by Eastern Exterior Wall Systems in Bethlehem. An avid runner, he completed his first full marathon in March. In addition to running, his passions included the Miami Dolphins, hiking, Kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, photography and gardening - he was, by all accounts, a dabbler in all things-but cultivating his relationship with his sons was paramount to him. They are his true contribution to this planet.

He will be remembered as a devoted father to his sons, Mason Richard and Zachary Nicholas; a loving son; a caring younger brother to his five sisters, a fun-loving uncle and an extraordinary husband and best friend to his wife of twenty two years, Janine Hyde-Broderick.

n addition to his mother, sons, and wife, he is survived by his sisters Terri Broderick (Alston, MA), Sue Acklen and her husband Craig (Bangor), Wendy Smith and her husband Palmer (Colorado Springs) and Amy Jo Jabbour and her husband Naji (Palmerton) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberlee Smith.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Jay by committing an unexpected, random act of kindness to someone who cannot repay you, forgiving someone who deserve forgiving and taking time to look for the details, which is where life is really found. Jay would want us all to remember that "Life is divine chaos. Embrace it. Forgive yourself. Breathe, And enjoy the ride."
