Obituary for Leon M. Maganza

Leon M.  Maganza
Leon M. Maganza, 79, of Pocono Pines, died Thursday, June 11 in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of Ruby (Mickus) Maganza. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Leonard and Helen (Byrnes) Maganza.

Leon was a self-employed truck mechanic in Brooklyn, NY for forty years before retiring in 1993.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Leon was a member of the Pocono Lake Wesleyan Church and was very active in child evangelism.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Lynn Mezzasalma in NJ, Jean Mezzasalma in NJ, Sherrie Argot in PA and Patricia Demarest in NJ; two sons, Leonard Maganza in TX and Leon Maganza Jr. in NJ; two sisters, Marie Utter and Alice DiStefano, both in Long Island, NY; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 16 from 5:00 to 7:15 PM at the Cross Point Baptist Church in Farmingdale, NJ followed by a service at 7:30 PM.. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 17 from 9:30 - 10:00 AM followed by a 10:00 AM service from the Pocono Lake Wesleyan Church. Leon will be interred with full military honors at 2:00 PM on Wednesday from Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
