Obituary for Clair Elwood "Dewey" Dietrich

Clair Elwood "Dewey" Dietrich, 95, of Kunkletown and formerly of Middletown and Saylorsburg, died Tuesday, July 28 in Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home-Chestnut Ridge inn Kunkletown.

He was the husband of the late Faye (Brendle) Dietrich.

Born in Saylorsburg, he was a son of the late Clyde and Nettie (Arnold) Dietrich.

He was a WW II Navy veteran serving as an aircraft mechanic. He did the same work for awhile after the service in Middletown and also became a pilot himself. A consummate businessman, Dewey owned an operated a new car carrier business, a swimming pool installation business and a home heating oil business, all in Middletown. After moving to Saylorsburg, he owned and operated C.E. Dietrich Excavating and also did some farming..

He was a member of Cherry Valley United Methodist Church and he was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club while living in Middletown.

He is survived by a son, Timothy Dietrich of Saylorsburg and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4 from the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Crikelair officiating. Burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery in McIlhaney. A closed casket visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service from the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 1238 Kemmertown Road, Stroudsburg or to Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home Residents Fund, P.O. Box 327, Kunkletown, PA 18058.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
