George B. McHugh, 77, of Kresgeville died Wednesday, January 13 in Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville.

He was the husband of Joanne (Moran) McHugh. They had observed their 5oth wedding anniversary in December.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James and Agnes (Gorman) McHugh.

George was a tool & dye maker with the Boeing Corporation in Ridley Park for twenty years before retiring in 1998. Prior to that, he worked for Mack Truck in Macungie for ten years.

He was a US Army veteran. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus. George was a dedicated father and proud grandfather. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. A huge Notre Dame football fan, George was also a long-suffering Philadelphia sports fan. He was also a Mummer in Philadelphia at one time.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mary McHugh of McMichaels, Jeanette McHugh of Kresgeville and Christine McHugh of Holland; two brothers, Donald McHugh and his wife Mary Ellen of Ridley Park and Robert McHugh and his wife Janet of Chrisfield, MD; a grandson, Aidan McHugh of McMichaels and a nephew, Neil McHugh of Rockland, MD.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 16 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
