Shirley E.  Snyder (Wise)
Shirley E. (Wise) Snyder, 92, of Brodheadsville, died Saturday June 11 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Harold R. Snyder.

Born in Herndon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel K. and Maimie M. (Whitmyre) Wise.

Shirley had belonged to the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church.

She had graduated from Chestnuthill High School in 1941. She had been a school cook for the Pleasant Valley School District, and prior to that she worked for the Ronson Corporation In Delaware Water Gap for over 30 years. During World War II, she drove and operated an overhead crane for Bethlehem Steel.

Shirley and her sisters were known to have taken part as the founding members in forming the first cheerleading squad at Chestnuthill High School. She had belonged to the Pleasant Valley High School Band Mother's Association in the 1970's. She was also a former board member at both St. Luke's United Methodist Church and Cherry Valley United Methodist Church for many years. She had belonged to the Poplar Valley Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Shirley loved God, her husband, and her family.

She is survived by a son, Richard C. Snyder and wife Marie of Groton, NY; two daughters, Sherrill Leap and husband Elmer Jr. of Brodheadsville, Lori Weiss and husband Dr. Casey Weiss of Brodheadsville; a brother, Daniel Wise and wife Phyllis, of Scotrun; a sister, June Ott and husband Harold of Florida; seven grandchildren, Robert and wife Kristin, Sara, Jeremiah, Rebekah, Nathaniel, Ryan and wife Danielle, Patrick; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her sister Joanna Wise, sister Faye Reed, and brother Wayne Wise.

A church service will be held on Wednesday, June 15 in Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 1224 Kemmertown Road, Stroudsburg PA 18360 with Rev. Paul Crikelair officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday June 14 from 7:00PM-9:00PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 U.S. 209 Brodheadsville. Interment will follow the church service on Wednesday in Green Ridge Cemetery, Brodheadsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 1224 Kemmertown Road, Stroudsburg, PA.
