Obituary for John Dale Bartholomew

John Dale Bartholomew, 75, of Saylorsburg passed away Monday, June 27 in Palmerton Hospital.

He was the husband of Barbara (Kresge) Bartholomew. They would have observed their 15th wedding anniversary in December.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Mosteller) Bartholomew.

John graduated from Chestnuthill High School in 1959.

John was a dairy farmer for most of his life. He had also served as a bus driver for several years, and prior to that he was a projectionist, where he would run movies in places such as the Buck Hill Inn, The Grand, The Sherman Theatre, The Unity House, and the Wind Gap Theatre. He also did backstage work at Stabler Arena In Bethlehem.

He was a former board member of the land preservation of Monroe County, and he was part of the Pocono Mountain Dairies. He was an avid bowler, and took part in the Army Reserves.

He was a member of the St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Saylorsburg.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Walter Bartholomew of Saylorsburg; step-son, Matthew Trine of Saylorsburg; daughter, Cathy Feller and husband Brian of Brodheadsville; brother, Clark Bartholomew Sr. and wife Jane of Canadensis, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Janice Bartholomew.

A church service will be held on Friday, July 1 at 12:00 PM from the St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Saylorsburg, with Rev. Todd Glasmire officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 1 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
