Obituary for Michael John Franko

Michael John Franko, 62, of Saylorsburg, died Saturday, January 14 in St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe Campus.

He was the husband of Flostena (Smith) Franko. They celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary in May.

Born in Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Jean Ruth (Wachhaus) Franko.

Michael was of the Catholic Faith.

He had been a Police Officer in the New York Police Department in New York City for twenty years before retiring in 2001.

Michael was an avid bowler, in which he was a member of the USBC (United States Bowling Congress), where he had a Tuesday night bowling league. He also took part the Wednesday night Bronx Police League in Westchester County USBC, NY.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister, Carol Franko of Hawaii; two step-sons, Herbert T. Smith and wife Romaine, Damien Smith and wife Renee; and a grandson, Devin Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 3:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Friday, January 20 in the St. Casimir Cemetery in Shenandoah, PA.
