Obituary for Walter J. Staszczyk

Walter J. Staszczyk, 89, of Albrightsville, died Monday, January 30 in Weatherwood Healthcare and Rehab Center, Weatherly.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Mrozinski) Staszczyk. They had observed their 61st wedding anniversary in May.

Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Peter and Maria (Pavlosky) Staszczyk.

Walter was a US Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He later served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

He was employed by Bristol Myers (formerly E R Squibb) in both Brooklyn and in NJ for twenty six years retiring in 1983. Later he worked as a security guard at Korvettes in North Brunswick, NJ..

He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Lake Harmony and also a member of the Moose Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas Staszczyk and his wife Cathy of Hillsborough, NJ and two grandchildren, Christina and Caitlyn.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 3 at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Deacon John Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
