Obituary for Barbara A. Zinkler (Horn)

Barbara A (Horn) Zinkler, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt died Monday, October 23, in Moravian Village, Bethlehem, PA. She was the wife of the late Rev. Dr. Leon C. Zinkler who predeceased her nine months earlier on January 23, 2017.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Barbara was the daughter of the late Gerald A and Anna S (Ewing) Horn. In addition, she lived in Upper Darby, PA until her marriage to Leon.

Barbara attended Elkton High School in Elkton, MD and Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA. She devoted her life to her husband, their children, and their home. She tirelessly and continuously supported Leon in his career roles as Pastor and College Professor throughout her entire life. Barbara was the support system and quiet strength of the Zinkler family and possessed a genuine sense of humor.

Throughout her life, Barbara enjoyed her “extended family”, which included the constant companionship of countless cats, dogs, and even a pig. Even through her final days, she still found great joy in her grand-dogs Jagger, Abby and Roy, and her great grand-dog Chip. She also loved oil painting, gardening, canning, and traveling.

Barbara is survived by three children: Nancy Frederick and her husband, Jeff, of Newtown Square, PA; David Zinkler and his wife, Lisa, of Allentown, PA; and Carol Shibley, of Albrightsville, PA. Barbara is also survived by six grandchildren: John Snyder and his wife, Alana, of Sioux Falls, SD; Matthew Snyder, of Phoenixville, PA; Kyle Zinkler, of Allentown, PA; Kristin (Zinkler) Buckley and her husband, Benjamin, of New York, NY; Eric Zinkler, of Pittsburgh, PA; and Evan Shibley, of Albrightsville, PA. Additionally, Barbara is survived by her brother, Kenneth Horn and his wife, Peggy, of Charlotte, NC; her nephew, Gerry Horn and his wife, Janet, of Benicia, CA; her nephew, Jim Horn and his wife, Amy, of Lexington, NC; and her niece, Sheryl Culp and her husband, Richard, of Charlotte, NC.
