Obituary for Herbert J. Hahn

Herbert J. Hahn, 97, of Wind Gap, passed away on Saturday, October 28 in the Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

He was the husband of Marguerite L. (Roberts) Hahn. They had observed their 40th wedding anniversary in August.

Born in Gilbert, he was a son of the late John and Cora (Smith) Hahn.

He was a foreman at Bethlehem Steel in the No. 8 machine shop for thirty eight years, retiring in 1979.

Herbert was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the 2nd Infantry, Company C. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a service connected Purple Heart.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pen Argyl.

Herbert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to watch football and baseball, especially the Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, gardening, and trips to the Atlantic City casinos. He loved his John Deere tractor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jack Hahn and his wife Letty in Alabama and Donald Hahn of Nazareth; two stepchildren, Patty Preen and her husband David of East Bangor and Bev Reimer and her husband Blaine of Pen Argyl; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Phillip Hahn, by eight brothers and sisters and by two stepchildren, JoAnn Garr and Larry Gower.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 4 from St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Road, Pen Argyl with Rev. Jean Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery, Wind Gap. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2024 Lehigh St., Allentown, PA 18103.
