Jonathan Thomas Erb, resident of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Saylorsburg, PA, passed away on Dec. 16, 2017, at home at the age of 32 years. He was the son of Ellen (Kerstetter) Erb, Gilbert, PA, and Dr. Dennis J. Erb, Kauai, HI.

Jon was born on June 7, 1985 in Bethlehem, PA, and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2004. He obtained a BS in Physics at East Stroudsburg University and furthered his education by obtaining a MS in Physics at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. He was most recently a NCSU doctoral candidate.

Jon was personable, outgoing, charismatic, and easygoing. He made friends wherever he went, and will be forever remembered for his kindness and sharp wit. Jon played the drums and enjoyed (many hours) jamming with his musician friends. He was an Eagle Scout, avid Phish enthusiast, and loving companion to his dog, Keiser.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings Christopher Erb (and sister-in-law Amanda Charles) of Los Angeles, CA; Meredith Erb of Raleigh, NC; and Elizabeth Erb of Jim Thorpe, PA; maternal aunt and uncle Gail and John Carroll, Coatesville, PA; cousin and family Allison and Matthew Launi and daughters Harper and Quinn of West Chester, PA; cousin Adrienne Carroll, Aurora, Colorado; maternal grandmother Mary Kerstetter of Trevorton, PA,; paternal uncle and aunt Earl And Marcy Erb, Nashville, Tennessee.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 27 at 3:00pm at Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, PA. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. A celebration of life ceremony will be held following the service at The American Legion, Gilbert PA.
