Obituary for Harry E. Possinger

Harry E. Possinger, 82, of Brodheadsville, passed away on Saturday, December 23 in his home.

He was the husband of Jill A. (McNett) Possinger. They had observed their 51st wedding anniversary in April.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Claude and Gertrude (Hofford) Possinger.

Harry was a 1954 graduate of Chestnuthill High School where he excelled in both basketball and baseball.

He had owned and operated West End Tire Store in Brodheadsville from 1973 until 2016. Prior to that he had worked at Ronson in Delaware Water Gap.

Harry was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert. He played baseball for West End in the former Pocono Mountain League for many years and also played in a local dart league for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Kevin Possinger of Brodheadsville; four daughters, Tish Anderson of Brodheadsville, Tina Possinger of Tannersville, Trudi Barber of Nazareth and Tracy Schmidt of Saylorsburg; a sister, Janet Serfass of Brodheadsville; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville. Interment of Harry's cremated remains will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 927, P.O. Box 335, Gilbert, PA 18331.
