Obituary for John Anthony Bertotti Sr.

John Anthony Bertotti Sr.
John Anthony Bertotti Sr., 79, of Albrightsville, passed away Tuesday, May 22 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Hospice Unit, Bethlehem.

He was the loving husband of Elizabeth Marie (McCabe) Bertotti. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in October.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles Bertotti and the late Bridget (Kunkle) Bertotti.

John worked for CPC International Inc... in Jersey City, NJ for twenty six years until retiring in 1996.

He was a former softball, baseball, and basketball coach in Jersey City for many years. At the at of 60, he was still very adamant to learn more, as he joined the Adult Reading Education Club in Jersey City, NJ. He was also an avid member of the Washington Park Men's Club in Jersey City, NJ. His family considered him to be the so called originator of the DIY (Do It Yourself), as John enjoyed getting on his tricycle to collect wood and other scraps so he could build sheds, mangers, birdhouses, wheelbarrows, and other items from scratch. One of his most beloved creations that his family holds close to their hearts is the " bridge to nowhere", which he built in his backyard. He also loved his 50 cent thrift store pants. Above all else, he was a family man. He loved his family more than anything, and he was an amazing husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John A Bertotti Jr. and wife Becca, James Bertotti and wife Stacey, both of Stafford, VA; two daughters, Janet Gamba and husband Lou of Lawrenceville, NJ, Jodi Malloy and Fiancéé Anthony of Groveville, NJ; two stepsons, Mario De Maria and wife Nancy, Marc De Maria, both of Bayonne, NJ; a stepdaughter, Alnona De Maria and husband William of Albrightsville; eighteen grandchildren, John, Chris, Jennifer, Jackson, Ryan, Megan, Grace, Nancy, Eric, Michael, Angelo, Vincent, AnthonE, Kyle and Fiancée Kaitlyn, Alexander, William, Kenny, Heather; six great grandchildren, Kai, Jayden, Alexia, Jocelyn, Anna Belle, and Lily. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Calabrese and Harriet Milne, and two brothers, Fred Moeller and Jim "Yo-Yo" Bertotti.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763, Route 209, Brodheadsville with Chaplain Jason Vanderburg officiating. Viewings will be held on Friday, May 25 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on May 26, 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
