Obituary for Jennie Johann Cona (Lucia)

Jennie Johann (Lucia) Cona, 74, of Saylorsburg, passed away Saturday, May 26, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Pasquale "Patsy" Cona. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in July.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late James Lucia and the late Antonia "Jean" (Palumbo) Lucia.

Jennie was a school chef for numerous Christian schools in Brooklyn, NY throughout her life, including Heritage Academy as the head chef, Bayridge Christian Academy, and the Brooklyn School for Special Children. Prior to that, she worked as bookkeeper at a supermarket in Brooklyn, where she first met her husband. During her career, she also volunteered as a prayer counselor at the 700 Club Counseling Center in Brooklyn.

She was also very involved with several churches in NY, such as the International Christian Church in Staten Island, the New Hope Fellowship in Brooklyn, and the Ark Fellowship in Brooklyn.

Jennie was a very loving and caring person, and her first priority was her family. She gave up whatever she was doing to help someone else in need. She was always there for a late night phone call. Jennie will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Frank Cona and wife Jamie of Staten Island, NY, James Cona of Saylorsburg; a daughter, Toniann Acevedo and husband Chris of Spring Hill, FL; three grandchildren, Matthew Cona, Kayla Acevedo, Mya Acevedo; two nephews, James Esposito, Frank Esposito and wife Tina; a niece, Marietta Milner and husband Yan; a great nephew, Daniel Depasquale, and a great niece, Nicole Esposito. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Camille Esposito.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 3:00 PM from the McMichaels United Methodist Church.
