Condolence: Andy's passing was truly shocking and I am so sorry for your loss. Andy was one of those teachers that will always be remembered for his kindness and good humor. He always went the extra mile to help students who were challenged by the curriculum. Rest in peace Andy.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Andy's passing. I worked in his classroom at Long Valley Middle School some years ago. He was a wonderful teacher and the students like and respected him. I was a certified social studies teacher but continuing my education at college at the time pursuing a special education certificate. He always made me feel comfortable and shared his expertise with me in the field of social studies and use of technology. He will surely be missed.

Condolence: Mr. Damiter touch my life back in 1979 and 1980, as I'm sure he influenced the lives of numerous awkward teenagers at LVMS. He gave me the courage and inspiration to become Gloria Rasputin in "Bye Bye Birdie," much to my father's chagrin. I am sure that I am not the only student he made feel unique, special and talented. He was a light in my dim world as a young teenage girl, and for his faith in me, I will always be thankful. Rest in peace Mr. D. I'm sure you are entertaining them on the grandest of pianos in the great beyond.

Condolence: Mr. Damiter was my teacher 32 years ago....Back then, before he was married, he and Mr. Carney were the couple of riots at LVMS. He directed us in "Some Like it Hot" and it felt like the grandest performance of my life. He made each of us feel like his family, and this bonded the troupe together like nothing else. I'll never forget his amazing piano playing....he said it was because of his crooked pinkies which gave him more range. What's even more amazing is that, 25 years after Mr. Damiter taught me, he taught my niece, and REMEMBERED ME! He gave me nickname, which only he used: "Toots'. Maybe he called all the girls that, but it made me feel singularly special. The loss of such a wonderful person is great....may God bless his family.

Condolence: I had Mr. Damiter as both my homeroom and Social Studies teacher two years ago for eighth grade and being a part of his class was an absolute joy. He never failed to brighten up my day with his incredible sense of humor. My friend and I sat right in the front during Social Studies class and we were often the subject of many a light-hearted joke, which no doubt made our time there special and memorable. We still fondly recall some of the funny moments we had in Social Studies, and I'm sure we'll remember them for a long time. If he saw that I was frustrated or confused with school or life in general he was right there with either some good advice or just the right anecdote to pull me through whatever I was struggling with. He loved his job a lot and that was plain to see. He loved teaching, he loved talking with us and getting to know us, he loved making us laugh...I am so glad to have been one of his students. He will be sorely missed and his family has my deepest sympathies.

Condolence: I was lucky enough to have Mr. Damiter as a Language Arts teacher in 7th grade. Besides being a very humorous and interesting person, he taught me a little trick I still use to this day. When writing a story or something of the like he suggested to always keep your pencil moving in your hand even if you weren't writing anything because it always keeps your thoughts flowing. Whenever I do it I always think of him! I know he left my classmates and me very fond memories of middle school and I am deeply saddened to here of his passing. My condolences go out to his family and I am very sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I was shocked to have heard of Andy's passing. I just recently heard that he decided to retire - a decision I know was difficult for him to make. I was thrilled that he would have this time in life to sit back and enjoy a little bit...Andy was always one that would tell it like it is...sometimes making the moment difficult, but in moments that followed you would always have a chuckle! He had so many lessons for his students - much more than just social studies...but about being a good person and doing your best. Students always came back and said nice things about Andy. What I will remember most is that he was a "Gentle"man. Always kind, giving, and sincere...I am sure that Heaven is brighter because he is there. My sincere condolences to his family at this difficult time. Please know Andy will always be with you - his large spirit will never leave your sides!

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Damiter's passing. He was a great teacher. My son Joe had him in middle school and I remember him telling me story about having a fire drill. Evidently Mr. Damiter's way of keeping track of pencils, when a student borrowed them, was by having them leave their shoe on his desk. When the student returned the pencil, they got their shoe back. Needless to say, there was a fire drill, the ground was wet from a previous rain, and someone had gone outside without their shoe, due to borrowing a pencil. I thought it was a great idea, and thought that he had a great sense of humor. Of course I hoped the parent of the student had a great sense of humor about the situation too. I know you will read all of these messages, and they will help to comfort you at this very very sad time. Our deepest sympathy to all of you, Mr. Damiter was a great man. The Harrington Family

Condolence: Andy was one of the most personable, friendly, and passionate teachers I have had the honor to work with. From his stories of playing music to his patented flower clock, Andy was always waiting at his classroom door with a smile. Andy also thoroughly enjoyed his Eagles & Phillies, and, like all Philly fans, always enjoyed getting his chops busted on a Morning after a horrendous football game. Andy left an educational imprint on hundreds; may he rest in peace, and may his family find the strength to move onward after this loss.

Condolence: Mr. Damiter was one of the best teachers I had growing up. He truly cared about his students. It was the first class that made me care about social studies. I remember a few things that we learned, but mostly I remember the difference he made and the little things he did for each student to make them feel special. I'll never forget when he went out of his way to visit my grandparents at a store they used to own in East Stroudsburg. He always sent home brain teasers every weekend and my whole family would get in on the fun. It was like a weekly tradition. Mr. Damiter will truly be missed. He was a great teacher but most of all, a wonderful person.

Condolence: Mr. D. was my social studies teacher in 1992. He was also my homeroom teacher. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about the course content, but I remember other things - little moments that made him a favorite teacher of mine. I will never forget the joke he told about the tomato family and how the little tomato had to "catch up" (ketchup). He ate Fritos often and kept little bags of them in his desk. I always hated the smell of Fritos, and to this day, am reminded of him when I smell that smell. He was the one who nicknamed me 'Little Z' and that nickname stuck with me for years. He was good friends with Mr. Lally, who I'd go on to have in 6th grade. He was always kind, encouraging, smiley, and had a wonderful laugh. I was so thankful to have him as a teacher as I adjusted to middle school. My prayers are with the family as they mourn his loss. I am sure there are countless people whose lives he touched, especially as teacher and colleague while at LVMS.

Condolence: Andy and I were supposed to work together again next year but he called me on his way to drop off his retirement papers to let me know. I was so touched by the gesture and I told him he would be missed but that he had earned his retirement and he would love it. I will miss his smile, his jokes, and our daily sports talks especially about the Phillies and Red Sox. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep the memories close to your heart. Chris Inskeep and family

Condolence: Mr. Damiter was one of my favorite teachers, I had him for English in 7th grade and then social studies in 8th grade. I was really lucky having him twice since he was a great teacher. He could always make me smile and whenever I came back to visit he always remembered me and what I was doing. He would always tease me saying I was dating a little boy in 6th grade, and that's one of the many reasons I loved being his student. I'm in college becoming a teacher now and it is because him, and teachers like him, that I am becoming one. The world is going to miss out on a great educator and an even better man. I will remember him with love and I send my love to his family.

Condolence: I was truly shocked and sorry to hear of Andy's passing. He was a wonderful man, talented musician, and terrific teacher. My son, Jason, was fortunate enough to have Mr. Damiter as his social studies teacher. He truly enjoyed his classes and became a better student because of him. Personally, when transferred to 8th grade as a social studies teacher, he, along with Phil Kinney, were instrumental in aiding my adjustment to a new curriculum and teaching assignment. He earned my total respect as a colleague and I will miss his humor and wisdom. My heartfelt sympathy go to his family and friends.

Condolence: To say that I was completely shocked to learn of Andy's passing would be an understatement. I had no idea that when he and I spoke on Monday evening that it would be our last conversation. Andy was a good friend: I could count on Andy's phone calls during the morning commute, warning me of what I would encounter on route 80. He was a faithful colleague, sharing ideas and strategies for teaching social studies...and dropping me the occasional "bogus" note in my mailbox to make me laugh. ;>) Please know, Leighanne and Anita, that I held Andy in the highest regard. He was a good man, very gracious and kind, and he spoke fondly of you both. May the Lord bless you and keep you during this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, Keith

Condolence: We send blessings to your family, for Mr. Damiter will forever be in our hearts. Whether through textbook notes, the movie Glory or his famously known piano playing skills. We have lost a great teacher and friend, and we are all praying for your family. No one can ever replace such a great teacher and our hearts go out to the grieving family.
