Obituary for Amanda M. Heller (Weiss)

Amanda M. Heller, 85, of Brodheadsville, passed away Thursday, December 30 at home.

She was the loving wife of Delbert R. Heller Sr. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in August of this year.

Born at home in McMichaels, she was the daughter of the late Ellis R. Weiss Sr. and the late Florence (Schleicher) Weiss.

She was a member and former Sunday School teacher of Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville for many years. She was also a Brownie Leader and a Youth Softball coach for several years.

Amanda was a seamstress at various garment mills for many years. She took continuing education classes for arts, crafts & hobbies at Northampton Community College and Monroe County Vo-Tech. She was very crafty and talented in knitting, sewing, decorating cakes, and much more. She also loved camping and traveling. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Delbert R. "Skip" Heller Jr. and his wife Sharon of Effort; two daughters, Michelle Heller and her companion Barbara Krell of Ogden, UT, Kimberly Butryn and her husband Joseph of Bath; a brother, Ellis R. Weiss Jr. and his wife Judy of McMichaels; three sisters, Marge Schaffer of Danielsville, Joan Weiss of Effort, Deb Frantz and her husband Dave of McMichaels; five grandchildren, Lucas, Rachel, Christine, Jermaine, Rachelle; and six great grandchildren, Liam, Waylon, Gianna, Mariah, Trent, and Atticus. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Weiss.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 4 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville. Church services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ann Melot officiating. Cremation will follow in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion United Lutheran Church, 1919 Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.
