Obituary for Bernhard Lorentzen

Bernhard Lorentzen, 92, of Saylorsburg, passed away Monday, April 4 in St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe Campus.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Johan Lorentzen and the late Aagot (Lande) Lorentzen.

Bernhard was a Teamster for Local 814 in Long Island City, NY, for thirty years before retiring in 1994. He lived a long and very adventurous life. He considered himself a fisherman but a sailor at heart. He spent many years of his life sailing and traveling across the US as a truck driver. He visited his homeland of Norway many times and had a true passion for Nordic culture. He also was an avid fan of Italian food. Above all else, he wanted to be known simply as a good man, and he truly was to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

He is survived by his caring neighbors who were like family to him, Victor and Lisa Cicconi, and Saveena McLean and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John, and his sister, Ruth.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. Interment of his cremated remains will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250.
