Obituary for Catherine T. Baines (Sullivan)
Catherine T. Baines, 88, of Sciota, passed away on Wednesday, August 25 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
She was the wife of the late Richard Warren Baines who passed away in 1984.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (O'Malley) Sullivan.
She had worked as a hostess and banquet manager at the Holiday Inn in Bartonsville for 23 years.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert and a long time member of the Pocono Irish American Club.
Catherine was the family matriarch, with a side of sass and Brooklyn toughness, the epitome of strength and resilience.
Catherine enjoyed shopping and word search puzzles. Preparing Sunday dinner and raising a glass with the family always made her happy.
Catherine is survived by three sons, Timothy Baines of Sciota, Thomas Baines of Kresgeville and Richard Baines Jr. of Brodheadsville; seven daughters, Noreen Koch and her husband Joe of Kunkletown, Bridget Donato and her husband Joe of Stroudsburg, Bernadette Hennion and her husband Stewart of Sciota, Maureen Leap and her husband Scott of Stroudsburg, Eileen Cassino and her husband Joe of Miami, FL, Monica Baines of Effort and Kathleen Nicholas and her husband Donn of Finger Lakes, NY; a sister, Helen Martin of Farmingdale, NY; fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Sullivan.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 3 at 12:30 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. Interment will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3 from 11:00 until the time of the service.
