Obituary for Doris Schwarzenbach (Back)
Doris Schwarzenbach, 89, of Effort, passed away Monday, September 27 in Brookmont Healthcare Center, Effort.
She was the loving wife of John Schwarzenbach. They celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage together.
Born in Seaford, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Axel Back and the late Beatrice (Maxwell) Back.
Doris was a Meals on Wheels cook in Londonderry, VT for several years before retiring in 1998. She was very crafty and gifted in needlework. She loved stenciling, quilting, and crocheting. She was also an avid cook and baker, and enjoyed bird watching. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Glenn Schwarzenbach of Merced, CA, Eric Schwarzenbach of Somerville, MA; a sister, Eleanor Bond of Bow, NH; a grandchild, and two great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Schwarzenbach, and two brothers, Donald and Curtis Back.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 30 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Felker officiating. After the services, cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
