Dorothy J. "Dot" MacDonough, 81, of Kunkletown, passed away Wednesday, February 24 at home.
She was the loving wife of James F. MacDonough Jr. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in August.
Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late James Benson and the late Anna (Downes) Benson.
Dot was an elementary school teacher for several years. She worked at various schools throughout her career. She received a bachelor's degree in Education from SUNY-Oneonta, and was a member of the sorority Alpha Sigma during her time there. Throughout the years up until her passing, she always kept in touch with her sorority sisters. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Michael MacDonough and his wife Kelly of Blairstown, NJ; a daughter, Margaret Tims and her husband Alan of Kunkletown; and four grandchildren, Dylan MacDonough and his fiancée Caitlin, Sydney MacDonough, Megan Tims, and Lucas MacDonough. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Claire Dargan, Rita Gianatti, Alice Heitman, and a brother, Jack Benson.
A memorial service will be scheduled on a later date at the convenience of the family.
