Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Riedmiller (Lynch)

Elizabeth "Betty" (Lynch) Riedmiller, 86, of Saylorsburg, passed away Saturday, December 1 in Whitestone Care Center, Stroudsburg.

She was the loving wife of the late Robert C. Riedmiller Jr.

Born in Cahirciveen, County Kerry Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius Lynch and the late Nora (Clifford) Lynch.

Betty emigrated to the United States in 1949 at the age of 16 and became a citizen in 1957. She worked at clerical jobs in New York City for several years prior to taking what she thought would just be a summer waitress job at Buck Hill Falls Hotel in 1953; but there she met a married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" C. Riedmiller Jr., sharing 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. They owned and operated Riedmiller's Restaurant in Saylorsburg, PA for 24 years before retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.

She is survived by two children, Robert C. Riedmiller III and his wife Linda (Dunkelberger), Valerie Haas and her husband Timothy, and a nephew, John Mahoney who was like a son to her; four grandchildren, Stefanie Cruz and her husband Erik, Robert C. Riedmiller IV and his wife Brooke (Dancho), Jonathan Mack and his wife Jill (Burney), Christopher Mack and his partner Denise O'Connell; eight great grandchildren, Dominic Cruz, Anthony Cruz, Robert C. Riedmiller V, Tucker Mack, Cole Mack, Delaney Mack, Caelan Mack, Saoirse Mack; three sisters, Noreen Hurley, Kathleen Mahoney, Christina Rooney and her husband Vincent, of Ireland; three sister-in-laws, Jean Lynch, Mary Lynch, and Doris Tabler. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Victor Paul Haas, a sister, Mary Gambel, and four brothers, Morris Lynch, Patrick Lynch, John Lynch, and Cornelius Lynch.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 5 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Thursday, December 6 at 11:00 AM from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with Rev. Michael Quinnan as celebrant.
