Evelyn A. Altemose, 87, of Saylorsburg, passed away Tuesday, January 19 in St. Luke's Sacred Heart Campus in Allentown.
She was the loving wife of the late Richard L. Altemose.
Born in Appenzell, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Miller and the late Alma (Wescott) Miller.
Evelyn was a member of St. Mark's Community Lutheran Church in Appenzell and Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
The most important thing in Evelyn's life was her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
She is survived by three sons, Barry Altemose and his wife Connie of Kunkletown, Clyde Altemose and his wife Esther of Ocala, FL, Doug Altemose and his wife Tricia of Saylorsburg; a daughter, Tonya Altemose of Cresco; ten grandchildren, Kasey, Adrianna, Reed, Priscilla, Leon, Scott, Alacia, Morgan, Dakota, Daytona; and twelve great grandchildren, Cole, Alayna, Mckenzie, Peyton, Kameron, Kaydan, Shane, Shiloh, Sayla, Marley, Tyler, and Harper. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Harriet Switzgabel, Ruth Serfass, Pearl Weiss, Jean Gerstlauer, and a brother, Clair Miller.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 22 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ann Melot officiating. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice for any non profit organization that funds medical research.
