Fred T. Kraft, 82, of Stroudsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 22 in Slate Belt Health & Rehab Center, Bangor.
He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine (Shick) Kraft and the late Dorothy (Grube) Kraft.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry Kraft and the late Martha (Walters) Kraft.
Fred was a mechanical engineer for Exide Battery in Philadelphia and Reading for many years. He graduated from Olney High in Philadelphia in 1957 and later graduated from Drexel University in 1967. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1973 and served as Grand Master five times. His membership included the Frankfort Lodge #292 in Philadelphia, the Chandler Lodge #227 in Sinking Spring, and the J. Simpson Africa Lodge #628 in Bartonsville. He lived a life of faith and service. He was a longtime member of St. Marks Community Lutheran Church and the Western Pocono Lions Club. He was a volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity and was a Keystone Blood Bank donor for fifty years. He was also a Youth Educational Support Program mentor, a PVEN food pantry volunteer, a Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm volunteer, and a Waste Not Technologies volunteer. Most of all, he was a loving and caring father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.
He is survived by a daughter, Martha Winters and her husband Dan; a brother, Raymond Kraft and his wife Marie; a sister, Betty Bryant; six stepchildren, Carol Grube, Bonnie Duffy, Linda Rau, Howard Shick, Peggy Anderson, Bev Koerner; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his spouses and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kraft, and a sister, Barbara Hensley.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 26 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mark's Community Lutheran Church in Appenzell. Church services will follow at 11:30 AM. A private burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Appenzell.
