Obituary for Frederick A. Berthel
Frederick A. Berthel, 85, of Saylorsburg, passed away on Sunday, January 2 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.
He was the loving husband of Alice (Berth) Berthel. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Secaucus, NJ he was a son of the late Frederick J. and Gertrude (Heflich) Berthel.
He was a self-employed tile contractor in northern NJ for forty five years before retiring in 1990.
Fred was a US Army veteran and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he was a great husband, father and grandfather to his family and many others.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Frederick A. Berthel and his partner Lola of Little Ferry, NJ, Marc Berthel and his wife Robin of Little Ferry, NJ and Peter Berthel and his wife Tracy of Jackson Township; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 7 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Robert Simon officiating. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
