Obituary for Frederick E. Gerstlauer
Frederick E. Gerstlauer, 91, of Stroudsburg, passed away Thursday, February 21 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was the loving husband of Jean Frances (Miller) Gerstlauer. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May of this year.
Born in Plowville, he was the son of the late Frederick O. Gerstlauer and the late Dorothy (Bossler) Gerstlauer.
Fred was a member of the St. Mark's Community Lutheran Church in Appenzell. He was a salesman for Cramers for fifty nine years before retiring in 1989. He was a US Navy veteran, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He also loved gardening and fishing. Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Frederick W. Gerstlauer of FL; three daughters, Barbara J. Allen and her husband Grant of Stroudsburg, Janice Y. "Jen" Kresge of McMichaels, Sandra A. Possinger and her husband Paul of Blakeslee; two brothers, Stanley Gerstlauer and his wife Ann of NC, Harrison Gerstlauer and his wife Shirley of ID; three sisters, Anna Muccio and her husband John of VA, Shirley McHare of FL, Jeanne Best and her husband Dennis of FL; seven grandchildren, Tammy, William, Shane, Jessie, Stacey, Bobbie Jo, Daniel; and eleven great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 26 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM from St. Mark's Community Lutheran Church followed by funeral services at 12:00 PM with Rev. Paulette Obrecht officiating. Cremation in the H. G. Smith Crematory will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mark's Community Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 146, Reeders, PA 18352.
