Obituary for Hazel J. "Aunt Hazie" Donchez (Conklin)

Hazel J. "Aunt Hazie" Donchez, 89, of Pen Argyl, passed away Sunday, January 21, at home.

She was the loving wife of the late Frank S. Donchez Jr. They spent over 45 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 1999.

Born in Landing, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Conklin and the late Mary Irene (Heiney) Conklin.

Hazel graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1952. She worked as a seamstress at A&H Sportswear for many years. She also worked as a hairdresser with a beauty salon in her home for several years. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and shopping. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by a son, Jay Donchez of Wind Gap; two daughters, Dawn Plummer and her husband David of Pen Argyl, Tammy Kemp and her husband Dean of Pen Argyl; two grandchildren, Traci Hoadley and her husband Jason of Nazareth, Tyler Kemp and his significant other Sarah Barnett of Pen Argyl; three great-grandchildren, Devon Pfeifer and his significant other Christy Perez, Kennady Lorrah, Elliot Lorrah-Pfeifer; a great-great grandchild, Camila Pfeifer; and a son-in-law, Rick Goulstone. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Florence Frantz, Mary Evans, Gladys Padgett, four brothers, Donald Conklin, David Conklin, Matthew Conklin, Charles "Gump" Conklin, and a daughter, Sharon Donchez.

A viewing will be held on Monday, January 29, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, and on Tuesday, January 30, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church, Pen Argyl. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Monsignor Thomas Koons as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
