Obituary for James E. Coleman

James Edgar Coleman, 73, of Kresgeville, PA passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital-Anderson Campus in Easton, PA.

Born January 26, 1948 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son to the late George Edgar Coleman and Thelma Jane Morrow Coleman of Washington, NJ.

Jim attended the Washington Alliance Church and graduated from Washington High School in 1966. He excelled in state-level competition in football and wrestling and was an all-around athlete. Jim attended Bloomsburg University and received his Associates degree in Marketing from the County College of Morris.

Jim was a store manager for Agway Inc. for 12 years before starting his own landscaping business, Nature's Care, in 1981 for which he continued to work until his death. He was the owner of Nature's Care Garden Center in Kresgeville, PA. He was also seasonally employed at Blue Mountain Ski Area for many years. Jim volunteered for the Monroe County Penn State Master Gardener Program to share his knowledge and love of gardening. He was a volunteer and avid supporter of Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse International Relief to help children around the world. He was a regular attendee of the Countryside Alliance Church in Brodheadsville, PA. Jim has been part of the West End community since 1987.

A man of convictions, Jim loved God, nature, gardening, music and his family. He believed in vegetarianism, peace, love, humor, and finding your joy in life. He loved to help people.

Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kyle Allison Dempsey, his daughters Brittney Erin Coleman and her partner Kenneth Hatt of Stroudsburg, PA and Sarah Elizabeth Coleman Wilcox and her husband Mark of Savannah, GA, grandchildren Xavier and Simone Wilcox, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George and Thelma Coleman, and his sister Sharon Eileen Coleman Walker. Jim will be missed by those who knew him.

A Christian Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 2pm at the Countryside Alliance Church, 126 Countryside Drive, Brodheadsville, PA 18322 followed by a Celebration of Life Music and Fellowship time starting at 4:30pm at Josie Porter Farm, 6514 Cherry Valley Road, Stroudsburg, PA. Jim loved music and was a two-time Woodstock attendee. He always made sure there were good tunes to accompany all the good moments in life. We want to share his love with you.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kettle Creek Environmental Fund, 8050 Running Valley Road, Stroudsburg, PA or Operation Christmas Child, .
