Obituary for James J. "Jim" O'Donnell Jr.

James J. "Jim" O'Donnell Jr., 78, of Saylorsburg, passed away Monday, June 7 at home.

He was the loving husband of Josephine A. Swartz. They celebrated 19 years or marriage together.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late James J. O'Donnell Sr. and the late Ruth (Steidel) O'Donnell.

Jim graduated from Palmer College with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and full training as a chiropractor. He practiced overseas in Ireland for several years. Later on, he worked as a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel for twenty eight years. He started playing chess as a teenager at the Allentown Chess Club. He played throughout his entire life and became very accomplished in the sport. He loved feeding and taking care of his birds at home near Saylors Lake. He also helped people who were in need, no matter the circumstances in their life. He was friends with many people, and he will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved dog, Annabelle, and many friends.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
