Obituary for Jeffrey R. "Jeff" Hinton

Jeffrey R. Hinton, 75, of Saylorsburg, passed away Sunday, April 17 in St. Luke's Hospital-Monroe Campus.

He was the loving husband of Linda L. (Altemus) Hinton. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in August of last year.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late LeRoy Hinton and the late Wilma (Buck) Hinton.

Jeff graduated from East Stroudsburg University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He began his career as a middle school math teacher in Nazareth. After his teaching career he went on to work for various GM dealerships as a parts manager for thirty years. Later, he was a postal carrier for several years until retiring. He was also the caretaker of both Kresgeville and Gilbert cemeteries for many years. He was a member of the Western Pocono Lions Club, a long-time volunteer for PVEN, an active member of Salem St. Paul Lutheran Church, and a frequent blood donor for many years. Jeff was an avid golfer and always enjoyed kayaking and fishing. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Craig Hinton and his wife Mishael of Flourtown, PA, Timothy Hinton and his wife Randy of Brodheadsville; a daughter, Janine Beck of Sciota; four brothers, John Hinton and his wife Barbara of Westerville, OH, James Hinton and his wife Kathleen of Reeders, Robert Hinton and his wife Nadine of Saylorsburg, Glenn Hinton and his wife Debbie of Saylorsburg; six grandchildren, Paige, Landyn, Kellen, Chase, Carter, Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 22 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Salem St., Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville. Church services will follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Deborah Scheffey officiating. Burial will follow in Gilbert Cemetery.
