Obituary for Joann M. Civarelli (Kowalski)

Joann M. Civarelli, 84, of Sciota, passed away Monday, March 6, at a nursing home in Easton.

She was the loving wife of the late Albert C. Civarelli. They celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Edward Kowalski and the late Madeline (Melson) Kowalski.

Joann was a secretary at various places for many years. She first worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and then worked at Child Inc. She continued her secretarial work at the University of Delaware, and finished her career at the Delaware Department of Transportation. Joann was a very talented artist and always enjoyed painting, drawing, and stained glass. She was also an avid writer, writing songs, stories, and poems. Along with her husband, she enjoyed nature and animals. She had a strong faith and loved going to church and bible study. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Crowley and her husband John of Sciota; a sister, Theresa Roman of DE; three grandchildren, Luke, Travis, and Gretchen Crowley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward R. Kowalski and Joseph Kowalski.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Memorial services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dave Felker officiating.
