Obituary for Joyce L. Kratz (Zacharias)

Joyce L. Kratz, 91, of Kunkletown, passed away on Monday, November 15 in her home.

She was the wife of the late Charles O. Kratz.

Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Ezra and Emma (Andrews) Zacharias.

Joyce was a 1948 graduate of Polk Township High School and at one time she had worked as a presser at Better Made Manufacturing in Effort. Prior to that, she used to pick potatoes on the Getz Brothers farm. She was well known for her pie baking and cinnamon buns. An animal lover in general, Joyce especially loved her cats.

She was a member of Salem St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Charles E. Kratz and John Kratz and his wife Laurie, all of Kunkletown; two daughters, Eileen Krock and her husband Richard and Jane Kratz, all of Kunkletown; a sister, June Strohl of Kunkletown; four grandchildren, Joseph Krock and his wife Sheena, Andrew Krock and his wife Tracy, Michael Kratz and Jennifer Kratz and six great grandchildren, Aidan, Hailey, Gavin, Logan, Addison and Jaylen. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Wilbert, Allen, Warren, Homer and Ezra Zacharias and by two sisters, Anna Learn and Arlene Altemose.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 18 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Deborah Scheffey officiating. Burial will follow in Dotters Corner Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
