Kathleen M. Griest, 88, of Sciota, went on to join her husband, son, and great granddaughter, on Monday, September 13, at home, surrounded by her family.
She was the loving veteran's wife of George Griest. They celebrated 52 wonderful years or marriage together before his passing in 2003.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Costigan and the late Catherine (McGrath) Costigan.
Kathleen worked many years as a secretary at military bases, traveling the world with her husband during his 30 years of service in the Army. She loved gardening, entertaining and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Her great grandchildren were so special to her and the light of her life. Seeing them every day made her so happy. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Williams; her grandchildren, Madeline Roman and her husband Chad, Samantha Williams and her fiancé Lee Adams, Matthew Williams, Jason Williams; and her great grandchildren, Rachel Roman, Brooke Roman, Riley Adams, and Asher Adams. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Georgie Griest, and a great granddaughter, Vanessa Lockley.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, September 26 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Harry Packer Mansion, 19 Packer Hill Road, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.
The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville is in charge of the arrangements.
A special thanks to the Residential Hospice nurses that took care of her for the last two and a half years. Especially her massage therapist, Carla, who became part of the family, and her nurse Angie, who was so wonderful to us all in our Nanny's final weeks.
