Obituary for Laura Jane Bartholomew (Raub)

Laura J. Bartholomew, 70, of Kresgeville, passed away Thursday, April 7 at home surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Robert F. Bartholomew. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in September of last year.

Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Dotter) Shafer and the late Howard Raub.

Laura was a member of Salem UCC in Gilbert.

She worked in quality control at McLean Packaging in Nazareth for twenty two years. Prior to that, she worked as a sewing machine operator at Scotty's Fashions for seventeen years. She always enjoyed motorcycling with her husband on his specified trike. She loved vacationing and spending summer days in Canada. She also enjoyed swimming in the pool with her grandchildren and having cookouts in the backyard. She and her husband spent many years country line dancing at Penn's Peak, formerly known as Rambler's Ranch. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Daniel Bartholomew and his significant other Tracey of Lehighton, Kevin Bartholomew and his fiancée April Sample of Kresgeville; a daughter, Lori Fiorentino and her husband Joseph of Effort; a brother, Lamont Raub and his wife Mary of Palmerton; two sisters, Nancy Kresge of Gilbert, Linda Banning of Tamaqua; and six grandchildren, Dylan, Matthew, Cheyenne, Brandon "Buster", Jake, and Layla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Chain, and a nephew, Mark Chain.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 13, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Gilbert Cemetery.
