LeRoy Batchler, 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday at his grandson's home in Walnutport Pa.
Born in Brodheadsville, LeRoy was the son of Wilbur and Mabel Batchler. LeRoy married his beautiful wife Gloria in July of 1952. LeRoy was a beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather. LeRoy grew up working on his family farm in Brodheadsville. He continued to work his family’s and other farms in the area well into his adult life. He later worked for PennDot, where he retired after 16 years of service. LeRoy spent much of his free time going for train rides on the WK&S in Kempton PA, with his grandsons.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Batchler, his son LeRoy Batchler Jr, his daughter Joan Hess, his brother Leon Batchler and his brother-in-law Son nu “Sunny” NG.
LeRoy is survived by his Sister Virginia NG, Brodheadsville, brother Glenn Batcher and his wife Marge, Brodheadsville, grandsons Robert Ancherani Batchler and his wife Mary, Walnutport and Clarkie Hess of Martins Creek.
LeRoy’s family would like to thank St Luke’s Hospice of Lehighton and Home Helpers of Walnutport for their compassionate care and support throughout the last weeks of LeRoy’s life.
Friends and family will honor his memory Wednesday March 16, at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Viewing will be held from 11:00am. Funeral services will follow directly after at 12:30pm. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to have donations made in LeRoy's name to WK&S steam engine 65 restoration project.. Donations can be mailed to WK&S Inc., PO Box 24 Kempton Pa 19529.
