Obituary for Lillian M. Henry (Hooper)

Lillian M. Henry, 91, of Pocono Pines, passed away Monday, June 14 in Spring Village @ Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

She was the loving wife of the late David A. Henry. They celebrated 67 years or marriage together before his passing in 2019.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Albert Hooper and the late Gloria (Winkler) Hooper.

Lillian graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from Notre Dame College in Ohio. She later became interested in her family geneology and published seven historical novels. She also had a highly involved leadership role with the Girl Scouts of America with many years of volunteered service. She was a talented seamstress, decorator, and needleworker. Some of her happiest moments in her life was spending her retirement years with her husband traveling the country in their motorhome. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

She is survived by her five children, Stephen D. Henry of Montana, Kathleen J. Raphael and her husband Kevin of Belle Harbor, NY, Margaret L. Spangler and her husband Tom of Victor, ID, John D. Henry and his wife Amy of Pocono Lake, Michael D. Henry and his partner David Savage of New York City; a brother, Douglas Hooper of Western Pennsylvania; a sister, Ruth Atkins and her husband Greer of Mount Airy, NC; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Hooper.

Church services will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 11:00 AM from the Blakeslee United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Healey officiating. Burial will follow in Blakeslee Cemetery.
