Obituary for Lorraine E. Smith (Green)

Lorraine E. Smith, 88, of Drums, formerly of Walnutport, passed away Thursday, January 17 in Lehigh Valley Hospital- Hazleton.

She was the loving wife of the late Clark S. Smith. They were married for more than 61 years before his passing in 2011.

Born in Kunkletown, she was the daughter of the late Clark Green and the late Beatrice (Berger) Green.

She was a member of Jerusalem UCC in Trachsville.

Lorraine was proud of her accomplishments as an officer manager for New York Life Insurance in Allentown for 24 years until retiring in 1986. She graduated from Stephen S. Palmer High School in 1947. She was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Senior Citizens. She was a very active member in her church and belonged to the Women's Group of Jerusalem UCC where she helped with crafting and fundraisers for the church. Lorraine also enjoyed fishing, sewing, quilting, traveling, playing cards and time with her beloved family. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

She is survived by a son, Dann Smith and his wife Patricia of Mountain Top; a daughter, Louise Sayuk of Katy, TX; a brother, William Green and his wife Patricia of Danbury, Connecticut; three sisters, Shirley Hahn and her husband Glen of Palmerton, Sylvia Behler and her husband Carl of Northampton, Carolyn Koumaras and her husband George of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Julianne Caldwell and her husband Jeffrey of Arrington, TN, Gregory Sayuk and his wife Stacy of Edwardsville, IL, Douglas Sayuk and his wife Rebecca of Monte Sereno, CA; six great grandchildren, William Sayuk, Andrew Sayuk, Abigail, Sayuk, Alex Caldwell, Olivia Sayuk, and Alyssa Sayuk; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Foster Green.

A viewing will be held on Monday, January 28 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM from the Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Dr., Palmerton, PA 18071. A church service will follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Kathryn Foster officiating. Burial will be in the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jerusalem UCC Maintenance Fund, 545, Church Dr., Palmerton, PA 18071.
