Obituary for Mandy Lee Walker (Fuller)

The Lord called Mandy Lee Walker home while sleeping peacefully on December 26, 2021.She
was 99 years old and had a lengthy fight with Kidney Failure, A fighter unlike any other beating
the odds at every turn over the years when doctors threw in the towel. She always proved them
wrong because she knew God was not ready for her yet and she was not ready to leave her
family.
She was born to Victoria and Andrew Lee Fuller in Aberdeen, Mississippi on August 7, 1922
the second of four children, Mattie B. Smith, Ula Mae Baker and Andrew Lee Fuller Jr. (all of
whom have preceded her in death). In 1942 she married Willie Greene Walker and had 4
beautiful children. Mandy was preceded in death by her husband, loving daughters Vera
Eckford, Annie Smith, Willie Taylor and her loving son Alfred Walker. Mandy is survived by
daughter Mattie Williams and son in law Alvin Williams of Effort, Pennsylvania, son in law
Horace Eckford of Valley Stream, New York; grandchildren: Deborah Fox, Ronnie Eckford,
Patricia Jackson, Erick Brown, Elaine Weakly, Lydell Fair,Victoria Eckford, Latricia Johnson,
Alison Riddle, Lydia Schultz, Michael Eckford, Alisa Fair, Amanda Vasser, Christopher Vasser,
Tamara Williams-Hood and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren. All whom she loved and touched deeply.
Mandy moved to Queens, New York in 1965. She was a caregiver all of her life which was a
testament to the loving person that she was. Mandy was known for her warmth of heart, always
opening her home to others, and her kitchen was never closed. Mandy was quite the adventurous
spirit, always looking for something to do, never one to stay idle including hobbies such as
fishing, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling and of course weekly casino visits. Most of all she
loved the Lord and reading his word daily, finding solace in the scriptures. She also enjoyed
moments with family immensely, often recruiting her grandchildren to embark upon a
labor-intensive meal preparation while she sat on the side lines giving step by step directions or
helping as she liked to phrase it.
Mandy lived life to the fullest and loved without boundaries, always willing to lend a helping
hand no matter what the task and never afraid of trying new adventures although she valued
family and tradition. As the matriarch of the family it was not uncommon for newborns to come
straight to her home from the hospital; toddlers' initial potting training experience involved her
direction on some level. Somehow life events weren’t complete without her presence. Anyone
that had the pleasure of meeting Mandy loved her and she freely returned the sentiment.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 6 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Pastor Brenda Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
