Obituary for Maria Sehic (Markic)
Maria (Markic) Sehic, 83, of Jonas, passed away Sunday, September 29 in her home.
She was the loving wife of the late Zvonko A. Sehic. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together before his passing in 2017.
Born in Mostar, Croatia, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Markic and the late Stana (Knezovic) Markic.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
Maria immigrated from Croatia with her husband and her late son to join her mother already in the United States. She was an executive in the hospitality industry for many years. She worked at several hotels in New York City, and later worked for Mt. Airy Lodge for over ten years. She was a very hard worker, a great friend, and loved by everyone. Most of all, she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Drina Puzino and her husband Daniel of Rego Park, NY; three sisters, Zora Matteo of Effort, Mira Kelly of West Chester, Antonija Cohill and her husband Emil of Woodside, NY; and two grandchildren, Brendan and Evan Kessler. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Sehic-Martin.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 4 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5 at 11:30 AM from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Gilbert, with Rev. Michael Quinnan as celebrant. Burial will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
