Obituary for Marie F. Andrews (Haydt)

Marie F. Andrews, 81, of Palmerton, passed away on Friday, December 9 in her home.

She was the loving wife of Robert L. Andrews. They had celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in May.

Born in Trachsville, she was a daughter of the late David and Eva (Keller) Haydt.

A 1959 graduate of S.S. Palmer High School in Palmerton, Marie also attended Churchman's Business College.

She was the Polk Township Tax Collector for thirteen years, retiring in 1995. Prior to that, she was a secretary at Progressive Merchants in Lehighton and before that she worked for Monroe County Co-Op Dairy in Brodheadsville.

Marie was an active life-long member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Trachsville, where she was also a member of the church's ladies group. She was a charter member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a charter member of the Polk Township Historical Society. She was a Pleasant Valley High School Band Parent and a Girl Scout Cookie Mom for a number of years. She was very active in these and other community and school organizations.

Marie loved to cook, bake , garden, travel and dance. She loved to help others and especially enjoyed being with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Patti Snyder of Pipersville; a brother, Paul Haydt of Kunkletown; a grandson, Quintin David Snyder and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert, Evan and Marvin and by four sisters, Evelyn, Jane, Linda and Blanche.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will n Jerusalem Union Cemetery in Trachsville.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, is in charge of arrangements.
