Obituary for Master Sgt. Nicholas P. "Nik" Vollweiler

Master Sgt. Nicholas P. "Nik" Vollweiler, 35, residing in Japan, and formerly of Saylorsburg, PA, passed away on Friday, November 9th.

Born in Livingston, NJ, he was the loving son of Bernie and Laura (Romeo) Vollweiler.

Nik graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2001. Shortly after he enlisted into the Air Force on August 23rd of 2001. Since then he had spent 18 years of service in the security forces with multiple tours around the world. His true passion was the many years of service he spent as a canine handler. He also spent six years as a kennel master in Hickam Joint Air Force Base in Hawaii. He was looking forward to getting back to his true passion of dog handling again and working for the TSA. He loved his career in the military handling canines, and in 2017, he received the rank of Master Sgt. Nik loved animals,playing sports, and always staying in shape. He had hopes of eventually moving back to live in Hawaii. Nik was an amazing son, brother, devoted airman, and a wonderful friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends, family, and his dog Jimmy, who he loved very much. Nik's parents will be taking care of Jimmy once he arrives back stateside.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Bernard Vollweiler of Saylorsburg, Corey Vollweiler of Delaware Water Gap; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Rita Vollweiler, and Louis and Ida Romeo.



A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763, Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Michael Quinnan officiating. Cremation will follow in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
