Obituary for Minerva D. Hosking (Dashner)

Minerva D. Hosking, 92, of Kunkletown, passed away Saturday, April 8, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.

She was the loving wife of the late Charles W. Hosking. They celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2009.

Born in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Paul Dashner and the late Minerva E. (Peters).

Minerva graduated from Easton High School in 1948. She was a caring homemaker and served her community for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, West End Service Unit, receiving the Outstanding Leader Award in 2001. She was also a Brownie Leader for over thirty years. She served as a former past president and member of the Western Pocono Women's Club for forty five years. Minerva was a volunteer and founding member of the Pleasant Valley All-Sports Club, member and former Den Leader of the Boy Scouts of America, and a parent volunteer for Eldred Elementary School. She always enjoyed gardening and loved her prolific house plants. She was also an avid reader. Most of all, she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by two sons, Michael P. Hosking of Easton, Richard C. Hosking and his wife Mariclaire of Kunkletown; three daughters, Karen A. Hosking of Nesquehoning, Eileen J. Puglia of Hamburg, Valerie H. Rodriguez and her husband John of Kunkletown; eight grandchildren, Cory Hosking and his significant other Sara, Deanna Puglia and her fiancé Jordan, Adrienne Puglia and her significant other Alec, Matthew Hosking and his wife Heather, Amy Reyes and her husband Michael, Rachael Gougher and her husband Landon, Elizabeth Vegetabile and her husband Paul, Angela Rodriguez; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Hosking, a son-in-law, Michael Puglia, and her brothers and sisters, Daniel, Pauline, Clara, Edward, and Patricia.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 AM, and interment of the ashes will follow the service in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville.
