Obituary for Nelly Azucena Baez

Nelly Azucena Baez, 77, of Blakeslee, passed away Wednesday, March 25 in St. Luke's Hospice House- Bethlehem.

She was the loving wife of Miguel E. Baez. They were married on August 25, 1963, and celebrated 56 years or marriage together.

Born in Azogues, Ecuador, she was the daughter of the late Rosario Cardenas and the late Pepe B. Avila.

Nelly worked in GA & Alarms for Ademco-Honeywell in Syosset, NY for over twenty years before retiring in 2015.

She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking for the entire family. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally, and always enjoyed spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Miguel A. Baez and his wife Zoraida, Gonzo G. Baez; two daughters, Jenny R. Baez and her husband John, Alexandra Baez-Thomson and her husband Ray; a brother, Vicente Avila and his wife Nanda; two sisters, Teresa de Pacheco, Elvira Cando and her husband Angel; six grandchildren, Marco Jaimes, Jeffrey Baez, Joanna Johnson and her husband Keith, Michael Baez, Brandon Thomson, and Jonathan Alvia. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Raquel Siguenza.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
