Obituary for Norman Scheller

Norman Scheller, 85, of Effort passed away on Tuesday, February 23 under hospice care.

He was the loving husband of Norma "Chip" Scheller. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 12 of this year.

Norman graduated from Polk Twp. High School in 1953. He served in the Armed Forces
with his Basic Training in Fort Jackson, SC and Medical Training at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. He took advanced Medical Training in Europe. He worked in the US Army Medical Hospital, Seine Area, Fontainebleau, France and the US Army Medical Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. He received many good conduct medals and Unit Soldier of the Month Awards. Upon returning home from the service, he worked at Mack Trucks in Allentown for twenty nine years.

Norman played baseball for many years for Kunkletown in the former Pocono Mountain League. He loved hunting with all his good "Buddies" every year. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.

Norman was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort. He was a member of the church council, the ground's committee and with the rest of his family, he managed the St. John's Food Stand for many years. He was also a director of the West End Fair.

His sons and their families were always his pride and joy! In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Scheller and his wife Christina (Hoffman) Scheller and Michael Scheller and his wife Wendy (Stephens) Scheller; two sisters, Eva Knecht and Dorothy Roth; a granddaughter, Jenna (Poppy's Little Girl!) and two step-grandchildren, Amanda Altemose and Matt Altemose and his fiancé' Ashley Gyarmaty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sterling.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
