Obituary for Robert Heller Brong

Robert H. Brong, 95, of Stroudsburg, passed away Tuesday, January 19 at home.

He was the loving husband of the late Isabell K. (Lilly) Brong. They celebrated 54 years of marriage together before her passing in 2017.

Born in Brodheadsville, he was the son of the late Charles Brong and the late Emma (Heller) Brong.

He was a member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square and the Christ Hamilton Senior Citizens group.

Robert was a laborer for Eureka Sand & Stone Quarry for seventeen years. Prior to that, he worked at Fenner's Textile in Wind Gap. He always enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing cantaloupes. He loved sharing his produce with his friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling with his Senior Groups around the U.S. Most of all, he was loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Runshaw and her husband Ken of Chambersburg; three nephews, Ron Lilly, Mike Brong, Ted Gearhart; five nieces, Wanda Tolnai, Susan Samus, Sharon Kostenbader, Debbie Robinson, and Linda Stephens. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl, and two sisters, Cleo and Mada.

Memorial services will be scheduled on a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monroe County Meals on Wheels, 901 Polk Valley Road, Unit 104, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
