Obituary for Robert L. Perry

Robert L. Perry, 81, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Monday, January 21 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono in East Stroudsburg.

He was the loving husband of Betty J. (Kresge) Perry. They were married for 37 years this past December. Over the years they developed nicknames for each other, Tarzan and Jane.

Born in Pikeville, KY he was a son of the late Milton and Sarah (Reynolds) Perry.

He owned and operated a couple garages in the area, his Sunoco Station in East Stroudsburg and Bob's Texaco in Stroudsburg in the 1960's and 1970's. He then worked at K & L Motors until he retired in 2008.

He belonged to the Jaycees in the 1960's. He was an avid bowler and bowled at Colonial Lanes and then Skylanes. He loved to golf, going to the casino, watching horse races and working outside in the yard. He enjoyed time with his kids, grand kids and great grand kids. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kelly Perry and her wife Beth Kruse of Stroudsburg, Rose VanBuskirk of Stroudsburg, Shirley Johns and her husband Barry of Florida; his sons, Chris Perry of Canadensis and JR VanBuskirk of Virginia; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Perry Sr. of Alabama and Tom Perry of Pennsylvania. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Leighton, grandson Bobby and great granddaughter Madison.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763, Route 209, Brodheadsville. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Felker officiating. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
